Plurality
Yeah uh.. heads up. This page is a WIP.
I will have my own, proper explanation of what plurality is and what it means for me/us. But in the meantime I can link you the following:
The cliffnotes
I have dissociative identity disorder, or at least traits of it (medically recognized). This means my brain couldn’t really handle having one (1) cohesive sense of self, and thus split it into a multiple sense of selves.
For dissociative identity disorder (which from now I will refer to as DID), this usually is caused by trauma. Good luck trying to get me to expose my trauma history to you though.
I’m a bit of an oddball in comparison to most presentations of DID, but the baseline of dissociation, switching/fronting and identity confusion are all there.
I refer to the collection of brain people as my system, and we like the terms alters, and system members the most. Though we’ll use headmates from time to time.
Hello!
You’ll see these little custom colored callouts be used throughout the website, instead the default ones obsidian MD provides. This usually means that one specific person left that note and wanted it to be known it was them.
Most of my alters are my OCs, and vice versa. The line between the two are blurry for me, and it’s not always clear which one came first. As a rule of thumb, most of the OCs you’ll see mentioned on this website are in fact, also system members.
There is no main person in the system, and generally there’ll be a mix of people fronting (being present in the body) over time.
Well... if you insist.
We don’t really provide a key for these callouts, but we (PALS) know perfectly well who wrote them. If you know us personally, you might be able to figure it out too, or ask us who wrote what.
Some funfacts
We’re a developer for PluralKit, one of the more widely used plurality related bots. We hang out in the support server pretty frequently, so there’s a chance that you’ll run into us there.
We’re mostly all the same guy — which seems contradictory! The OC most of us are based on is, in fact, the same OC — Jake! You’ll see him mentioned throughout this site a couple more times at least. Though we’ve grown pretty diverse over the years, Jake remains the root of us all.
Our innerworld is pretty detailed to the point we’re making entire comics about it.
We don’t participate in the wider plural community that much and the chances you’ll run into us in any plural related space is pretty damn low.
